Boothill was sitting on the floor of the library, a book in his lap and a very obvious cable going from his lower back to the wall. There was another book on the floor next to him. The grade level was still for kids, but he wasn't really at picture book level anymore, at least. He was proud of himself for improving, even if he was still going to the children's section for books.]
Hush, can't someone give her good friend a present just because?
[And once she's sure he has his eyes closed, she very carefully fixes three little pads to his fingers - the first two, and his thumb - making a pleased sound that she'd managed to get a close colour match without having his hand right there with her.]
[His brows furrow a little when she works on fixing something onto his fingers. His sense of touch isn't the same as a normal flesh and blood human, but he feels certain pressures and such. He can feel it's at three of his finger tips.]
Can I see?
[Honestly, it said a lot that he trusted her to modify him like this. It was just his fingertips, but it was still his body she was changing. And he was letting her.]
[He opened his eyes to give her a quizzical look, but pulled his phone out while he looked at his fingers. He tapped them together lightly, thumb to index and then thumb to middle finger. He felt that there was something on top of the tips, barely raised and not quite metal.]
[Guizhong just laughs and gently nudges her shoulder against him, getting all the thanks she needs out of the way he reacts to being able to operate the screen so easily.]
I thought it would make your life a little easier, that's all. It was quite tricky to get them fine enough that they wouldn't look strange on your hand.
[It's basically all she's been doing for weeks.]
You can have one for each fingertip, I'll just need some more time to make them.
Darlin', take all the time you need. Even just this is enough.
[It really was just the small things, wasn't it? Boothill pretty much has a case of what he didn't know what he was missing, having spent years going without and making do. Being able to use his phone like any other person was very low on that priority list.]
Y'know, it'll also make turnin' the pages easier, too. Two fer one.
Oh, really? Wonderful what a little friction can do.
[The tiny, wry curve of her lips makes it more than obvious she's aware of any potential double meaning, there. Guizhong puts an arm around his shoulders and gives him a squeeze.]
[The meaning was actually a little lost on Boothill, his mind focusing more on the practical applications given it's been awhile since he'd had proper fingertips.]
What made you come up with this, anyway?
[He never fussed about not being able to use the touch screen on his phone very well, he always made do.]
[Of course he's never fussed about it, but that doesn't mean she didn't notice that he would have the problem! She smiles at him and lifts up one hand to pat his cheek gently.]
Silly, I just wanted to do something nice for you.
{ he's sleep deprived at this point, and unfortunately the first of his thoughts are stuck going around in circles. thankfully he's already in bed and has stopped drinking at this point, half asleep and semi-delirious as a whole set of different texts go to different people.
this one had probably actually been intended for stelle. mistakes are made. }
Is it weird to watch a friend who is not really a friend sleep?
Wait. Don't ask for context, just remember I can see in the dark now so it made it too easy.
But it's weird, right? Thinking about it, it's weird.
{ no, the context is what makes it a hell of a lot weirder tbqh. the hot mess later gets sent to stelle is because he tries to stop thinking about this. unfortunately for him he's misfiring to boothill first. }
I could have guessed the charging would be a thing, just not the sleep part. I guess it'd be boring to just wait until it's done though, especially if you can't do much while it happens.
And I doubt it's boredom if it's haunting me like this. It doesn't matter.
